Cherry Red Currant is native to Eastern Europe and is an ideal plant for a patio container, mixed, or pollinator garden. In the spring it will become full of nectar-rich blossoms for early pollinators, opening through the summer to panicles of bright red currants. These berries are tart and nutrient dense, perfect for fresh eating, adorning charcuterie boards, summer drinks or leaving them for the array of birds that will populate this small shrub throughout the late summer months into fall. Easy-to-grow plants are highly ornamental and showcase an abundance of flowers, fruits and fall color, adding interest to the patio or garden all growing season. Growing 3-5 feet, the hardy, woody, attractive plant will tolerate most soils and full sun to partial shade. Hardy in zones 3–7.
