Kara Bala Miursal Pomegranate is a very productive variety and one of the best for juicing, it produces pomegranates that are extremely juicy with a very high sugar content and delicious sweet tart arils. Fruits are a beautiful deep crimson, ripen early to mid season and also store longer than many cultivars. The gorgeous orange-red blooms provide a subtropical look. It is said to be just as hardy as ‘Salavatski’ which withstands zone 6. This is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub that grows up to 10 feet but is easy to keep smaller by pruning. Pomegranates require lots of sun and heat to bloom and fruit. They are self fertile and leaf out in late spring.
