Oemleria/Osmaronia cerasiformis

Indian Plum features bright green, lance-shaped leaves in spring that emit a cucumber scent when crushed. Its small, five-lobed white flowers with green calyxes appear in hanging clusters before the leaves emerge and possess a unique fragrance. The fruit resembles small plums, transitioning from peach-colored when immature to purple or bluish-black at maturity. Being dioecious, fruit production requires both male and female plants nearby. In natural settings, males tend to be more numerous, bloom earlier, and grow faster, while females exhibit slower growth and higher mortality rates.
