Claim Jumper Katsura Tree is a medium to large tree native to China and Japan with a beautiful shape and lovely, small, heart-shaped leaves that emerge flushed with burgundy, age to blue-green, and then turn shades of pink, red, orange and yellow in autumn when the leaves can give off a lovely burnt caramel aroma. It has inconspicuous flowers. Trees will typically reach 40-50 feet over time. ‘Claim Jumper’ is a special cultivar with golden foliage. It will likely grow from half to three quarters the height of the species. Full sun will bring out the brightest yellows and even white tones but provide some shade from the hot afternoon sun to avoid burning.
