The Korean Tea plant, Camellia sinensis, originates from Korea’s Boseong region, renowned for its annual Green Tea Festival every September. This robust cultivar thrives particularly well in coastal BC’s climate, offering abundant harvests with a favourable flavour profile. It features bright green, dense, evergreen foliage and white to creamy white blooms. Tea leaves should be harvested during the warm months by plucking the top three young leaves from the branch tips. Proper drying and curing methods are essential to achieve the desired tea type. Over ten years, the plant can grow multi-branched to over six feet tall and wide but can also be maintained at a smaller size with pruning.
