Summer Chic Peruvian Lily is a compact, bushy garden plant boasting lush, mid green foliage. Masses of bi-colour pink and white funnel-shaped flowers bloom above the leaves from June to September. Speckled with brown, these eye-catching flowers are a magnet for pollinators, attracting bees and butterflies into the garden. The Peruvian Lily is a hugely popular choice for flower bouquets and is well-suited to cutting and displaying in a vase indoors.
Peruvian Lilies make excellent bed and border plants but grow equally well brightening up the patio in pots and containers. These herbaceous perennials die back in late autumn and survive the winter below ground level before sprouting and flourishing again the following spring.
Alstroemerias are relatively easy to grow and care for. They prefer a sheltered spot in full sun or partial shade and thrive in fertile, moist but well-draining soil. The Peruvian Lily is fairly drought tolerant and, once established, only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells. Very little pruning is required, but deadheading spent blooms helps encourage a longer flowering season, and the plant benefits from any old stems being cut back in spring, ready for fresh new growth to emerge. This cultivar reaches an eventual height and spread of up to 60cm.
