Taunus is an improved cylindrical beet that is perfect for slicing. Harvest at full size or as baby ‘fingerling beets.’ The highly uniform roots have deep purple flesh, minimal zoning and high resistance to cracking. It grows to a height of about 30cm (12”). An excellent beet for slicing, pickling, and chipping. Hybrid breeding means that the whole plants are uniform, smooth, and early. The tops are quite tasty as well. Direct sow beets starting just after the last frost date in rows. Repeat at two-to-three-week intervals for a longer harvest window.
These seeds are coated with an inert, organically certified layer which helps to minimize clumping in storage and seed sowing machines. The coating is approved by organic certifiers in Canada, the US, EU, and Japan.
