Paeonia itoh 'Purple Sensation' features striking semi-double magenta blooms with deep black centers encircling vibrant golden stamens. This fragrant variety is an intersectional hybrid between tree peonies (P. suffruticosa) and herbaceous garden peonies (P. lactiflora), resulting in a robust perennial with large, uniquely colored flowers. Mature plants can produce more than 50 blossoms. Its foliage resembles that of tree peonies, emerging a rich red before maturing to green, adding multi-seasonal interest to the garden.
